How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

• Show nearby restaurants using Google Places data
• Generate insights and analytics about your eating patterns
• Maintain and improve our service
• Process subscription payments through Apple

AI Processing

Dishiary uses artificial intelligence to analyze food photos for nutrition estimation and meal identification. When you take a photo of your food, our AI models process the image to identify dishes, estimate nutritional content, and provide insights. Your food photos and meal data are processed by our AI systems but are not used to train AI models. We retain analysis results only for the purpose of providing you with nutrition insights and meal history.

Location Data & Google Places

When you use restaurant tracking features, we may collect your location data to show nearby restaurants via the Google Places API. Restaurant information including names, addresses, ratings, and photos is provided by Google. We cache this data to improve performance and reduce API calls. Your location data is only used for restaurant discovery and is not shared with third parties beyond what is necessary to provide the Google Places service. You can disable location access at any time through your device settings.

Data Security

We implement appropriate technical and organizational security measures to protect your personal information. All data is encrypted in transit using TLS and at rest. Authentication is handled through Apple Sign-In, and we never store your Apple ID password. Food photos are stored securely and accessible only to your account. However, no method of electronic transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Data Retention

We retain your personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide you services. Your meal history and food photos are retained indefinitely while your account is active. When you delete your account, we will delete your personal information within 30 days, except where we are required to retain it for legal or regulatory purposes.

You have the right to:

• Access the personal information we hold about you
• Request correction of inaccurate information
• Delete your account and associated data
• Export your data in a portable format
• Opt out of non-essential communications
